Meet Our Pastor

The Reverand Sally May is coming home

Sally began attending the Jeff Church in the fall of 2001 and soon after found herself being called into ordained ministry — she was ordained in our church on September 18, 2014.

Having spent her professional career in healthcare, she began commuting to
Andover Newton Theological School in Newton, Mass in 2008. She continued to work at Copley Hospital and raise her family with her husband, David in Jeffersonville.

She graduated from ANTS in 2014, completed CPE (chaplaincy intern) requirements at Dartmouth Hitchcock that summer, and began formal ministry in the Fall — first at First Congregational UCC, Essex Junction UCC, followed by a call as Associate Pastor at First Congregational Burlington UCC beginning in January 2015.

In September 2017, she was called to serve as the pastor of Malletts Bay Congregational UCC in Colchester.

And now she has been called home to Jeffersonville UCC.

Her call to ministry is rooted in her passion and gifts for social justice and pastoral care.

Pastor Sally believes ‘church’ is a unique community because of its focus on faith in God through Jesus Christ. It is a place and a community of people who worship together and serve our community together.

As a worship leader and pastor it is her call to invite questions rather than give answers. She believes it is the unknowables of ‘God’ — the Mystery and Awe and Wonder of a Creator in the world and in our lives that makes the idea of an ever-present loving God in our midst that makes faith so amazing.

She also believes that to claim the name ‘Christian’, we are obligated to seek a world in which the powers that be are questioned and to imagine, hope, and seek to create a more just, equitable, and loving world.

So many of us are hungry for food for our souls. To find people and a place that remind us that we are worthy to receive and capable of offering love — that we do matter, and we are never alone.

The “little church with a big heart,’ the Second Congregational UCC, Jeffersonville wants to offer you a seat at our open Table, an open and affirming congregation where everyone is welcome.

This is the root of Sally’s faith and will be her ministry among us in the church and in the community.

Pastor Sally has lived with her husband, and raised their 3 adult children, in Cambridge for 32 years.
